It is not easy to envisage what will be needed only five years from now. There are plenty of expert opinions but one thing is certain - people will be using electronic high capacity communication to an extent that is hardly imaginable today, and they will want access at all times, at home and at work. When planning a LexCom Home network, it is important to consider how a room may be used in the future.

Tired of running between computers with floppy disks to print out a document?

With a LexCom Home network you can reshuffle computers and peripherals to suit their purpose and your room layouts, instead of having to place them close to a free telephone socket. For examples several computers can share a printer, scanner and back hard disk.

The home office

With a broadband connection you are on-line in a flash, enabling you to work efficiently in your home. The office network is only a click away. Telephone, fax, computer, scanner and printer access from other rooms will require at least a four socket outlet.

In most homes today, telephone and cable connections are only installed in a few rooms, restricting where and how you access communication technology. In the future, it will be common for every room to have standard communication outlets for computers, telephones and TVs, each one connected to a network of cables with a high data transmission capacity – and LexCom Home is leading the way. At the heart of the LexCom Home communication network is distribution centre with modules for data, TV and telephone traffic. This centre is in turn connected to an aerial and the usual domestic telephone and broadband cables.

Basic components of the home network
• Universal outlets with two sockets
• 4-pair installation cables
• Distribution centre where incoming cables are connected
• Patch cables for easy reconfiguration of the network
• Universal patch modules for connection of optional functions
• Distribution module for serving eight sockets for all communications devices
• HUB- module for a 4-socket data intranet
• Aerial amplifier for six TV sockets

All functions in the same socket

Each communication device (whether it be a telephone. TV, etc ) is linked to a standardised wall mounted socket with its generic cable and plug, via a specially adapted connection All the sockets are in turn cabled back to the distribution panel.
The beauty of a LexCorn Home installation is not just that all devices can be quickly and simply connected to the network through their generic cables, but also the ease at which the function of each socket can be defined and then re-defined

Alter your socket in seconds

The distribution centre looks similar to a telephone exchange, and every socket in each room has a corresponding marking and port on the patch panel

Using a patch cable, the room port is connected with either a TV. telephone or data module, depending on your intended use The socket has now been defined

If you want to alter the function of a TV socket in a room to enable a computer to be used, simply disconnect the cable from the TV module and insert it into the module marked 'data'. The socket is now re-defined for computer use.

The Kitchen

Commonly the hub of a household, there is often a TV and radio here. A second socket can be used for a telephone or a computer.

The living room

Not only used for watching TV, but also a place to play computer games or plug in your laptop. A four socket outlet will be needed in this room.

The childrens room

With the changing requirements as children grow, TVs and computers are often required for games as well as homework and projects. this would also demand a four socket outlet.

The master bedroom

A telephone connection is usally a requirement in any master bedroom, but at least two sockets will be required in order to accommodate a TV or computer.

The entrance hall

This is where the distribution centre cabinet is placed. There is an outlet with a socket for a tlephone and a spare socket for future use.

The home office

With a broadband connection you are on-line in a flash, enabling you to work efficiently in your home. The office network is only a click away. Telephone, fax, computer, scanner and printer access from other rooms will require at least a four socket outlet.

Built-in flexibility

All sockets are identical irrespective of which device
you want to plug in.The connecting cables are
adapted to suit the device, with three types of
Connecting cables for telecommunication,
data-communication and TV.

The special connecting cables follow devices
when they are moved from one socket to another.
The function of a socket is easily defined and
re-defined on the distribution centre patch panel.
